Louis “Lou” H. Kindred

Louis “Lou” Herbert Kindred, 87, of rural Whitehall, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in his home.
Lou was born September 30, 1937, in Pekin, IL, to Herbert and Francis (Newhouse) Kindred. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Rahn, November 25, 1956, in Pekin, IL. Carol was his lifelong friend, hunting partner and soul mate. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage.
On his retirement from Sentry Insurance Company, he and Carol moved to Whitehall to enjoy the beauty and outdoor activities the area offers.
His passion (besides Carol) was bowhunting. He was a measurer for Pope and Young Club and enjoyed measuring at the various sport shows and sharing hunting stories. Lou made lifelong memories and lasting bonds as he passed his love of the outdoors and hunting onto four generations of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the cadre of his hunting buddies.
Lou was a member of the Wisconsin Bowhunters Association , Pope and Young Club and Safari Club International.
Lou is survived by his wife, Carol; three children: Keith (Caroline) Kindred of Oshkosh, Kelly (Duane) Olson of Bonners Ferry, ID and Kirk (Jennifer) Kindred of Nashotah. The enjoyment of his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren enriched his life.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Lou’s life will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a service of remembrance and sharing of memories at 2:00 p.m., at his home (N38723 Thompson Coulee Road).
Memorials may be designated to the Wisconsin Bowhunters Association or the Pope and Young Club.
