Marvin A. Tranberg

Marvin Allen Tranberg, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in North Bend, Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Marvin was born September 16, 1939, in La Crosse, to Alvin and Melva (Stensven) Tranberg. He married Bonnie Salzwedel, November 14, 1959, at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. They later moved to North Bend.

Marvin co-owned the Tranberg Brothers Feed Mill for 57 years with brother, Leroy, in North Bend, until his retirement in 2015. During his free time, Marvin loved to collect antique/classic cars and spend time at the family farm mowing the lawn and hunting with his son and grandsons.

One of Marvin’s greatest passions was buying and renovating his cabin in Hatfield. Marvin and Bonnie purchased the cabin in 1982, and spent endless weekends there enjoying pontoon rides on Lake Arbutus and entertaining friends. They loved to frequent the local establishments in Hatfield for Friday Fish Fries.

Marvin loved his antique/classic cars. He enjoyed countless countryside rides in his Corvette Convertible and 1965 Chevy Impala Convertible. Marvin and Bonnie were blessed to be able to travel to Hawaii, Norway, Switzerland and Germany.

Marvin was also very active in community events. He golfed on the Monday night golf league in North Bend, was a First Responder for twelve years, a South Beaver Creek Cemetery Board member and an active member of the North Bend Improvement Association. Marvin was a dedicated Charter Member of the North Bend Lions Club with Perfect Attendance for 40 years and a recipient of the “Melvin Jones Award”.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Bonnie; a son, Timothy (Sandy) Tranberg of Black River Falls; two grandsons: Jordan (Jen) Tranberg of Madison and Trevor (Amanda) Tranberg of Hixton; two great-grandchildren: Jeffrey and Myles Tranberg; a brother, LeRoy (Bette) Tranberg of Ettrick; two nephews: Mark (Linda) Tranberg and Andy (Jody) Tranberg; and two nieces: Betsy Tranberg and Sheila (Tom) Wallerick.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; his grandparents, Selmer and Anna Tranberg and Hans and Mathea Stensven; In-laws, Willard and Bernice Salzwedel; and a brother-in-law, Wilber Salzwedel.
