Mary M. Angst
Mary M. Angst, 88, of La Crosse and formerly of Arcadia, died Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Pine View Nursing Home in Caledonia, MN.
Mary was born in rural Buffalo County, Wisconsin, May 1, 1933, to George and Mary (Pyka) Giemza. She was united in marriage to Myron “Mike” Angst at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in North Creek, April 11, 1955. She worked as a bank teller at State Bank of Arcadia for many years but also waitressed at Parkarilla and was a bookkeeper for Supreme TV. She was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, all of Arcadia and was currently attending Mary Mother of the Church in La Crosse. In her younger years, was a member of the PCCW and traveled with the Heritage Club. She loved to knit and was an avid sports enthusiast. Mary enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play in various activities around Arcadia, where she very much enjoyed living most of her life. After developing dementia, Mary moved to La Crosse with her son, Andrew, and enjoyed taking road trips to visit friends and family.
Mary is survived by her daughters: Carleen (Brian) Wilson of Minneapolis, MN, Sara (Roger Hannah) Angst of Chicago, IL, and Deanna “Dee Dee” (Jay) Angst-Hyland of Olathe, KS; sons: Andrew Angst of La Crosse and James “Jake” Angst of Arcadia; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Matthew; sisters: Stella Suchla and Sister Mary Evelyn Giemza; and brothers: Edward, Clarence, and Raymond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Parish in Arcadia with Father Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. to the time of mass at church, where a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in North Creek.
