Mavis C. Olson

Mavis Charrolet Olson, 93, of rural Whitehall, died Friday, June 19, 2026, in her home.

Mavis was born May 5, 1933 in Pigeon Falls to Archie and Inga (Skumlien) Jacobson. She married Lyle A. Olson, October 23, 1951. Lyle preceded Mavis in death, November 15, 2001.

Mavis worked as a CNA for 26 years prior to her retirement. Prior to that, Mavis provided home daycare for several neighborhood children while raising her own.

Mavis’s hobbies were vast. You would often find her in the garden in the summer or tinkering with her flowers around the home. Mavis was also very involved in her church (Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Whitehall) where she was able to continue her love of quilting and sewing with ALCW and Quilting Ladies groups.

Mavis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially weekend barbeques where the family would gather and share stories, kids would be playing ball in the back yard or getting into shenanigans. The kids enjoyed these barbeques and holidays most, as it often involved getting cookies that Grandma made. Mavis will be remembered by all for her love of her family and passion for her church and community.

Mavis is survived by her children: Charrolet Beck of Blair, Eileen Fremstad of Osseo, Kathleen Kimble of Blair, Dale Olson of Whitehall and Arlene (Dick) Frerks of Lake Charles, LA; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ardel Jacobson of Blair.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mavis was preceded in death by her son, Lauren Olson; a daughter, LuEllen Carpenter; two sons-in-law: Curtis Beck and Orlin Fremstad; a sister, Ethel Moen; a brother, James Jacobson; and a grandson, Tim Beck.
