Olin C. Fimreite

Olin Charles Fimreite, 92, of Whitehall, passed away March 31, 2026.
He was born August 25, 1933, near Eleva, to Theodore and Olinda (Schultz) Fimreite. Olin was a member of the first graduating class of Eleva-Strum High School and a standout in basketball and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a map maker.
Olin earned a degree from UW–River Falls, and is the place where he met his wife, Janice Kaneen. They were December 27, 1959. Olin worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service, eventually leading the Trempealeau County office in Whitehall until retiring in 1994.
He served nearly 25 years on the Trempealeau County Board, helped establish the Recovery Court, co-founded Fimreite’s Sunset Gardens and was known for his love of the land, community and family.
Olin is survived by his wife, Janice; four sons; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery, both in Whitehall.
Visitation was Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
