Patricia “Pat” Krage

Patricia “Pat” Krage, 87, formerly of Independence, died at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha, Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Patricia was born in Fountain City, July 30, 1936, the daughter of Daniel and Esther (Walski) Duellman. She married Leighton Krage, August 29, 1959. She received a teaching degree after three years of study at Winona State College and moved to Racine to become a kindergarten teacher at Garfield School. In 1967, she became the director of Little Lamb Nursery School at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she shepherded over 1,500 three- and four-year olds over her 30-year tenure. She was known for her strong, gentle nature, her sensitivity to the children’s feelings and their need to feel valued. After Leighton and Pat’s retirement, they moved to Independence where she taught at Ss. Peter and Paul School and the Independence Public Library. Leighton passed away in 2010, and a few years later she moved back to Racine,  and conducted story time at Goodland School and West Ridge School. Her love for children and reading books also continued with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters: Sally (Peter) McClellan of Fort Myers, FL and Lisa (Kevin) Loew of Racine, WI; five grandchildren: John (Becca), Daniel and Julia McClellan, Erin (Evoido Garcia) Loew and Chris Loew; 11 great-grandchildren: Peter, Mya, Natalie, Faith, Bella, Chloe, Vinny, Emma, Alayna, Aleah and Jarisela; brothers: Don (Judy) Duellman, David (Mary Ann) Duellman; sisters: Bonnie (Bob) Valentine and Kay Haines; and sister-in-law, Kay.
