Raymond “Ray” Amundson

Raymond Amundson, 71, formerly of Whitehall and Taylor, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 8, 2022, at Lakeview Health Center in West Salem.

Raymond married Karen Dobson and together they had four sons.

Raymond enjoyed being outdoors, going for walks and listening to music. Ray enjoyed fishing anywhere with his sons and many special memories were made salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and in the Racine area. Raymond loved telling stories and would often tell stories about working at Racine Railroad and Clipper’s IGA. He loved family get togethers and grill outs.

Raymond is survived by his sons: Jerry (fianceé, Jill Knapp) of Buffalo City, John of Taylor and Chuck (Rachel) of Arcadia; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer of Taylor; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Karen in 2009; and his son, Larry, in 2020.

No funeral services are planned at this time.

As Ray would have loved, a family fishing and grill out day is being planned in his memory for later this summer.

Ray’s family wishes to thank Lakeview Health Center for the care and compassion shown to Raymond during the two and a half years he called it his home.

Jack Funeral Home Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
