Robert “Bob” A. Anderson
Robert “Bob” Allen Anderson, 82, of Mondovi, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Mayo Health System, Eau Claire, following a brief illness.
Robert was born April 28, 1941, to the late Raymond and Lillian Anderson of Whitehall. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall.
Bob attended Larkin Valley grade school in rural Blair, and would always tell the story of “walking one mile to school…uphill…both ways”. He then attended Blair High School.
Bob honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. His service and honorable sacrifice for freedom spanned from February 3, 1964, until his honorable discharge from active duty, February 2, 1966.
On February 25, 1967, Bob married Bonnie Van Riper. They were married for 15 years, then divorced.
Bob worked at David Quarne Alligator Farm in Blair and was currently employed by Menard’s since 1998. Bob also mowed many lawns throughout the community. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, cookouts and restoring old cars.
Bob is survived by his children: Bruce (Penny) Bautch, Mark (Amy) Anderson, Robyn Wiemer and Jeanne Solie; grandchildren: Jessica, Micheal (Abbie), Samantha (Aaron), Allison (Dakota), Jameson, Nicholas, Colton (Sasha), Dalton, Blake, Ethan and Allana; great-grandchildren: Dominic, Caleb, Kaiden, Gage, Benjamin, Tanner, Jaxon and Sage; sisters: Ann (Donald) Johnson, Linda Olstad, Sonja (Gary) Cooke and Rebecca Franek; sister-in-law, Lynn Van Riper; his special nephew, Gene Van Riper Jr.; also by many nieces, nephews and friends, especially Lennie and Mary Jo Kummer.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Fromm; brother, Warren Anderson; brothers-in-law: LeRoy Olstad and Gene Van Riper Sr.; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Caitlyn.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel. A memorial gathering was held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
