Robert Charles Stenberg, 72, a/k/a “Bobby” or “Red Eye” passed away May 4, 2026, at Edenbrook home in Fond du Lac, following a long illness.

Robert was born in Whitehall, to Hilman and Dorothy (Sosalla) Stenberg, August 16, 1953. He grew up in Whitehall with his parents, brother Steve, uncle Anton and Grandpa Roy, and spent much of his time visiting his cousins and uncles on their nearby dairy farms, where he developed a keen interest in farming and tractors. Robert spent most of his life working for various trucking firms and traveled throughout the country. He eventually moved to the Fond Du Lac area. In 1992, he rescued a girl from a burning car in Iowa and received recognition as the “Knight-of-the-Road” award at the Waupon Truckers Jamboree that year. Bobby maintained his keen interest in farming and old tractors well into his adulthood. He was a member of the Empire Threshing Association and attended or worked at numerous thresheries and farm shows in the Fond du Lac area.

Bobby is survived by his son, Shawn, who lives in Independence; and one grandchild, Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Hilman; and his younger brother, Steve.

A graveside ceremony and burial will take place Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall.
