Roland Symicek

Roland “Rollie” Symicek, 92, of The Villages, FL, passed away unexpectedly, October 12, 2025.
Rollie was born June 12, 1933, in Independence, to Rose (Pierzina) and Joseph Symicek. He married Janice (Sonsalla) of Arcadia, August 5, 1961. Rollie served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus. Rollie was a manager in finance and accounting for the Milwaukee Road and Soo Line Railroads. He and Jan retired to The Villages, FL, in 1996. Music was a big part of his life, playing in polka bands, swing bands and community bands. Rollie played with Ernie Reck and his Country Playboys for a number of years.
Rollie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jan; son, Greg (Paula); daughter, Kristin Thayer; grandchildren: Aaron (Anne) Seehusen, Adrianna Symicek and Ian Thayer; and great-grandsons: Gordon and Owen Seehusen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Marcel and Clarence.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Holy Family Church in Arcadia. Inurnment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, following the mass.
