Ron Loken

Ron Loken, 76, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, Thursday April 11, 2024.

Ron was born to Earl and Betty Loken, August 5, 1947, and grew up on a farm in rural Blair. Ron spent three years serving his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He married Janet (Leoni) Loken, November 14, 1970. They settled in Ettrick, and had two children: Nichole Loken and Jeff Loken. Ron was well known. He was the Trempealeau County Highway Commissioner for 37 years. At one point, Ron was Mayor of Ettrick, served on the village board, and was part of the fire department. He finished out his career at Mead and Hunt Engineering. Ron had a love for sports, whether it be watching his kids, grandkids or any Wisconsin sport team. If he wasn’t listening to a Brewers game in the garage, you could find him playing cards at Weiners with “da boys.” Ron took his yard work seriously. Many hours were spent mowing on his rider. He also had a green thumb with tomatoes and cucumbers.

Ron is survived by his wife, Janet (Leoni) Loken; two children: Nicci Loken and Jeff Loken (Angie Ausprung); grandkids: Essence Loken, Dominic Loken, Jada Loken and Noah and Caleb Riley; sister, Vicky (Dennis) Pieper; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Micky Wood and Jeff and Jay Paulson for all of their help. Also to the St.Croix Hospice team. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Ettrick. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the same venue, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Kratz Funeral Home-Portage (www.kratzfuneralhome.com) is assisting the family with arrangements.
