Yvonne A. Shepherd

 

Yvonne Ann Shepherd, 88, of Pigeon Falls, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 27, 2025, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls.

Yvonne was born July 26, 1936, in Independence, to Cyril and Gertrude (Suchla) Skroch. She married Joseph Edward Shepherd, November 23, 1957, at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in North Creek, rural Arcadia. Joseph preceded Yvonne in death, June 2, 1994.

Yvonne enjoyed being a mother, farm wife, and in her earlier years, working at Arcadia Fryers. After farm life, Yvonne worked at ORC in Arcadia, the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center and for Trempealeau County Nutrition sites throughout the county.

Yvonne volunteered in 4-H as a Club Leader Superintendent of Explorers and Cloverbuds and was a Fair Board member. She was also very active in the Trempealeau County Farm Bureau, serving as Secretary and Women’s Chair. Yvonne received the county President’s Award and Wisconsin State Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award. She also volunteered on the Trempealeau County Dairy Promotion Committee.

Yvonne is survived by three sons: Mike (Barb), Bill (Paula) and Dennis (Jane) Shepherd; a daughter, Susan (Tom) Beck; eight grandchildren: Becky (Gary Arentz) Shepherd,  Kristopher (Ashley) Shepherd, Nicole (Doug) Oberbroeckling, Natalie DeBoer, Aaron and Brian Beck, Tom Cruz and Danielle (Franz) Lettner; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joan Proach and Sonja George; and two sisters-in-law: Jeannie and Kathy Skroch.

In addition to her parents and husband, Yvonne was preceded in death by three brothers: Giles, Patrick and Wayne; two sisters: Barbara Parpart and Bonita Skroch; four brothers-in-law: Richard George, Dick Proach, Alphonse Gandyra and Ernest Shepherd; and two sisters-in-law: Genevieve Gandyra and Ruth Shepherd.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in North Creek, rural Arcadia. Father Kyle Laylan officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. A rosary, led by Father George, was recited at 10:00 a.m.
