Arcadia teacher earns 2020 Kohl fellowship
An Arcadia Middle School teacher was one of 100 teachers honored by the Herb Kohl Education Foundation.
Last week, the foundation announced Jenna Putz, a middle school English as a second language teacher, earned a teacher fellowship. With the fellowship, the foundation will award Putz and the Arcadia School District $6,000.
According to the release sent by the foundation, “fellowship recipients are educators who have been chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom.”
The Kohl Foundation scholarship and fellowship program was established by Herb Kohl, philanthropist and businessman, in 1990. Currently in its 30th year of recognizing educational excellence, the foundation has awarded $20.9 million to Wisconsin educators, principals, students and schools.
“Education is the key to the future of Wisconsin and our nation. I am very proud of the accomplishments of these students, teachers, and principals and look forward to the great contributions they will make in the future”, Kohl said.
The foundation awarded 312 scholarships, fellowships and principal leadership awards. Award recipients were notified of their awards on Feb. 14. Regional recognition luncheons honoring the recipients will be held in spring, 2020. Herb Kohl will attend all luncheons and present awards to recipients.
