G-E-T girls end regular season with two losses

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls basketball team finished their regular season with a pair of Coulee Conference losses last week, as they have now dropped their last seven games.

The week began with a season-low in scoring as G-E-T fell 49-17 to Arcadia (see story elsewhere in Sports) last Tuesday. Then on Friday in Black River Falls, the Red Hawks fell in their regular season finale to the Tigers. The losses drop them to 8-14 on the season, including a 4-8 mark in the Coulee Conference. Their eight conference losses exceeded the three combined that G-E-T had over the previous five seasons, each of which ended in at least a share of the Coulee title.

G-E-T has received a sixth seed in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Three playoffs, as they hosted 11th-seeded Mauston on Tuesday. The winner travels to third-seeded West Salem on Friday.

BRF 50 G-E-T 41 - The Red Hawks were unable to pull off a road win to end their slide on Friday in Black River Falls.

Leading G-E-T in scoring were Cassy Schmitz’s 12 points and 10 from Genna O’Neill. Makayla Nortman led the Tigers with 22 points, followed by Katie Dobson’s 10, six each from Jordyn Briggs and Zyanna Deloney and three each from McKenna Dutton and Jaelyn Cloud.

Full scorers for the Red Hawks and halftime scores were not made available by press time.
