Three Blair-Taylor pitchers combined to allow just one hit and no runs while striking out 12 in a 7-0 season opening win against Brookwood in Wilton last Thursday.

Tavian Shramek got the start and struck out six batters in two innings before being replaced by Brady Thompson, who pitched three innings with five strikeouts, then Anthony Oldendorf closed the game by striking out one in two innings.

B-T took an early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning. Tavian Shramek scored on a dropped third strike before Jackson Shramek came home on a double by Michael Waldera. Thompson then singled Waldera home.

Jackson Shramek hit a double to score Tavian Shramek in the top of the second, making the score 4-0. Thompson singled home Peyton Kelly to make the score 5-0 in the fifth. Travis Pettis doubled later in that inning, bringing home two runs and putting the Wildcats ahead by the final.

The Falcons didn’t get a hit until the bottom of the sixth when they got a one-out single off of Oldendorf. That didn’t hurt B-T, however, as the next batter hit into a doubleplay.

Austin Thompson had three hits in four at-bats to lead B-T in the plate while Brady Thompson and Jackson Shramek both had two hits and two RBIs. Of B-T’s 10 hits, four were doubles.

The Wildcats are set to play at home against Fall Creek on Thursday and Stanley-Boyd on Friday. They’re slated to host Osseo-Fairchild this coming Monday before playing at Whitehall on Tuesday and Onalaska Luther next Thursday. They return home for a game against Augusta on Friday.
