AHS wrestlers fall in Westby

Westby took control with eight straight wins as they defeated the Arcadia wrestling team 54-30 in a dual last week Tuesday.

The road dual was Arcadia’s first loss of the season putting them at 1-1 overall with both matches coming in Coulee Conference competition. Arcadia’s first non-conference match was slated for this week Tuesday at Whitehall then they won’t be in action again until this coming Tuesday when they head to Boyceville.

The Raiders got off to a strong start with three wins in the first four matches, but a dual that featured seven forfeits didn’t end in Arcadia’s favor.

Westby won the first match by forfeit before Arcadia’s Hunter Fitzpatrick (120) received a forfeit. Ivan Aguilar (126) pinned Blake Hanson before Nestor Badillo (132) won by forfeit to put Arcadia ahead 18-6.

Westby tied the match as Trevor Lemke (138) received a forfeit and Dominick Hansen (145) pinned Cameron Boland in the third period. The Norsemen took the lead with consecutive pins by Ian Brown (152) and Garrett Vatland (160) over Esau Vallejo and Cruz Patzner. After Clay Nottestad received a forfeit at 170 pounds, Lukas Hanson (182) pinned Joseph Nelson, Isaac Hoff (195) received a forfeit and Dylan Nottestad (220) stuck Lane Huebner.
