Arcadia’s Jaszewski fires 40 at Castle Rock mini meet
In the final week of Coulee action before the Coulee Conference championships, Arcadia freshman Landon Jaszewski continued his outstanding debut season at the high school level by nearly breaking 40.
Jaszewski fired a 40 right on the number to tie for third place at the Coulee mini meet held last Tuesday at Castle Rock Golf Course in New Lisbon.
Westby/Viroqua senior Brooks Hoffland (38) and West Salem sophomore Noah Wachter (39) were the only golfers to finish ahead of Jaszewski at Castle Rock, while Black River Falls sophomore Sam Aebly joined him in the tie for third.
The BRF duo of junior Chris Antonelli and sophomore Braylon Backaus tied for fifth at 41. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau senior Nic Jumper fired a 42 to finish in a four-way tie for seventh, joined by BRF junior Calvin Lakowske, Onalaska Luther freshman Robert Bruns and West Salem senior Kyle Hehli.
As a team, Arcadia compiled a score of 173 to place fourth among the seven competing teams. Black River Falls posted a 164 to finish three shots clear of West Salem at 167. They were followed by Westby/Viroqua (172) in third, the Raiders in fourth, Luther (175) in fifth, G-E-T (182) in sixth and Wonewoc-Center/Hillsboro (204) in seventh.
In addition to Jaszewski, other scores by Arcadia golfers were senior Stryder Miller with a 43, senior Carson Schultz with a 44, sophomore Tharren Schock and freshman Owen Anderson with 46s and sophomore Brogan Solberg with a 55.
The Red Hawks had junior Aiden Johnson with a 44, sophomore Braydan Van Vreede with a 47, freshman Alex Anderson with a 49, junior Kylan Olson with a 50 and sophomore McGuire Slaby with a 52.
Miller cracks top 10 in final mini meet
In the final Coulee mini meet of the spring, Arcadia’s Stryder Miller managed to crack the top 10 this past Thursday at Skyline Golf Course in Black River Falls.
Miller carded a 44 to finish as part of a tie for 10th in the individual standings, joined at that score by the BRF duo of Chris Antonelli and Braylon Backaus along with West Salem junior Coen Knutson.
West Salem’s Kyle Hehli fired a 37 to beat the rest of the field, one shot ahead of Westby/Viroqua’s Brooks Hoffland (38) in second. They were followed by Luther’s Robert Bruns, BRF junior Toby Hovland and teammate Sam Aebly in a tie for third at 41, Luther senior Ian Bass and Westby/Viroqua junior Zach Dalen in a tie for sixth at 42, and both BRF’s Calvin Lakowske and Westby/Viroqua sophomore Jorden Teach in a tie for eighth at 43.
Landon Jaszewski was a shot behind Miller with a 45. The Raiders also had Carson Schultz at 47 and both Owen Anderson and Brogan Solberg at 52.
G-E-T’s scores were Nic Jumper at 45, Braydan Van Vreede and McGuire Slaby at 46, Alex Anderson and Kylan Olson at 49 and Aiden Johnson at 51.
The host Tigers reigned supreme in the team standings with a winning score of 169, just one shot better than Westby/Viroqua in second at 170. Luther and West Salem tied for third at 177, followed by G-E-T (186) in fifth and Arcadia (188) in sixth. Wonewoc-Center/Hillsboro did not have enough golfers competing to qualify for a team score.
