Arcadia’s Monroy wins Durand meet

Arcadia’s Jose Monroy topped a field of 165 runners as the Raiders took sixth in the team standings.

Monroy won the race by about four seconds, topping Nolan Reese of Kickapoo/La Farge. He was one of three Raiders to crack the top 30 as Cole Lockington finished 16th and Nestor Badillo finished 26th. 

Peyton Nelson was the team’s fourth runner, taking 52nd overall while Andy Monroy was 54th. Ivan Aguilar was the team’s sixth runner, finishing 58th and Drew Teske came in 110th place. 

Arcadia scored 144 team points, well off meet winner Altoona’s 98 and ahead of Elk Mound’s 156. Blair-Taylor finished eighth with 234 points. 

Delorean Peterson finished 24th for the Wildcats while Jacob Olson was 46th; Ole Heuer, 48th; Anthony Oldendorf, 60th; Armoni Samples, 66th; Ryan Flynn, 100th and Riley Gunderson, 112th.

Kevin Carroll took eighth for Whitehall, which finished 11th as a team. The next Whitehall runner was Ben Mohan, taking 61st followed by Michael Spare, 71st; Nolan Thompson, 75th, Brayden Lisowski, 90th; Payton Thompson, 92nd and Matt Poulos, 96th.

Independence/Gilmanton had three runners as Michael Onstad took 28th, Kevin Halvorson was 117th and Clay Herdahl finished 148th.

The Arcadia girls team had two runners finish inside the top 25, but they were the only two they had in the race.

Tegan Michalak finished fifth out of 124 runners and Casidi Pehler was 21st.

None of the schools in the Times coverage area had complete teams. Both B-T and I/G had four runners.

Kenzie Brandenburg led B-T, taking 32nd overall while Ella Halverson was 63rd, Samantha Kidd took 66th and Emmalee Johnson was 105th.

Leah Sylla led I/G, taking 64th overall while Andie Laehn was 102nd; Bianca Najera finished 109th and Hannah Gierok was 116th.
