Arcadia’s Tulip finishes 11th at state tournament

Rain shortened the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Two Girls Golf State Tournament to 27 holes, but Arcadia’s Hallie Tulip still made the most of her opportunities.

Tulip scored a 49 last Monday as play was cut after nine holes, leaving her tied for 16th overall after day one. She finished with one par, four bogeys, three double bogeys and one triple bogey for the round.

She made up some ground with the 10th best score of the day on Tuesday, tallying 91 strokes in 18 holes. Highlights included a stellar back nine with five pars, one bogey and two double bogeys. The front nine was a bit more of a struggle for Tulip, as a strong start of a bogey and two pars was set back by a 10 on the par five fourth hole. She recovered to set herself up for a strong finish over the rest of the front nine, tallying four bogeys and one double-bogey.

Her performance overall of 140 strokes was good for 11th, as Tulip finished 15 strokes shy of Xavier’s Lauren Haen, who won the Division Two individual state title.
