Top-five finishes were easy to find for the Arcadia High School track and field team at an indoor invitational meet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse last Saturday.

Arcadia athletes placed inside the top five in 13 different events as the Raider boys finished second as a team and the girls placed seventh.

A trio of seniors in Casidi Pehler (pole vault), Nestor Badillo (1600) and Landan Bremer (400) took first place in their events on Saturday. Bremer also took third in the 55-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Junior Ted Teske secured three separate fourth-place finishes as well as a fifth-place run in the open 200 to stack points for the Raiders, whose 63 team points were beaten only by Kickapoo/La Farge (65).

The Raider girls scored 32 points in a field that was won by Westby (87).

Jaylie Dahl scored multiple points for Arcadia as the sophomore finished second in the 55 and 200-meter dashes before finishing third in the 400-meter run.

Independence/Gilmanton found points early on Saturday when the 3200-meter relay team of Sophia Kampa, Kia Back, Angie Martinez and Taylor Sylla took third in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 12 minutes, 3.9 seconds.

The Indees placed 17th in the girls’ competition but did not record a boys team score.

Whitehall also saw a top-five finisher at the event. Freshman Mason Przybylla took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 8.5 inches to help the Norse finish 17th.

Blair-Taylor placed 21st in the boys’ field and did not have a team score on the girls’ side.
