Arcadia fights past La Crosse Central
The Arcadia girls basketball team avoided dropping a third straight game by eking out a win against La Crosse Central last Monday.
The Raiders (5-3) fought past the RiverHawks (3-3) for a narrow 52-49 victory in their non-conference battle at the Wanek Center. Arcadia led 33-28 at the midway point and held on despite only scoring 19 points in the second half.
Sophomore Tatum Drazkowski continued to be a force for the Raiders, tallying 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting (including hitting a couple shots from deep) while also grabbing 13 rebounds and coming away with four steals. Drazkowski now has six double-doubles in eight games this season.
Other leading Arcadia contributors were junior Joselyn Lockington with 11 points, junior Justine Sonsalla with 10 points and sophomore Madison Grotjahn with six points and six rebounds.
For the River Hawks, junior Alahnna Simpson scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds while senior Zaya Whitaker recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The Raiders will be on the road for their final game of 2024, as they square off against Fall Creek on Friday.
