Arcadia, G-E-T boys named All-Coulee

A senior from Arcadia and a freshman from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau earned First Team All-Coulee Conference honors, announced last week.

G-E-T’s Cody Schmitz was the only freshman named to the All-CC first team as he finished second in the conference in scoring at 17.8 points per game.  Arcadia senior Chandler Sonsalla also cracked the first-team, scoring 11.5 points per contest.

Onalaska Luther’s Gavin Proudfoot and Isaiah Schwichtenberg earned two of the first-team spots while West Salem’s CJ McConkey was the fifth player named to the team. The Knights and Panthers were co-champions of the conference with Proudfoot and McConkey — both juniors — sharing Athlete of the Year honors.

G-E-T’s Sawyer Schmidt was named to the second-team as he averaged 12 points and a team-leading 7.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He was joined on the second team by Trey Cowley and Evan Anderson of Black River Falls, Jacob Lotz of Viroqua and Jack Hehli of West Salem.

Arcadia had two honorable mention picks in senior Evan Pauly and junior Kaden Updike.

Pauly was new to the team after his family moved to Arcadia, but he adjusted quickly, averaging 11.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Updike scored 7.5 points per game.

Also earning honorable mention were Isaiah Loersch, James Biedenbender and Lyndon Byus, Luther; Carson Koepnick, West Salem; Clayton Slack, Viroqua; Gavin Bergdahl and Grant McCauley, Westby.

Luther finished with a 10-1 conference record with their only loss coming to West Salem. The Knights finished the season 19-2 and advanced to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association State Tournament, losing to The Prairie School in the semifinal round.

West Salem went 9-1, losing only to Luther while Arcadia was 6-4; G-E-T, 3-5; Viroqua, 3-5; BRF, 3-7 and Westby, 0-11.
