Arcadia, G-E-T golf teams compete at Colfax, C-FC

As summer sun fades and cool fall temperatures enter the schedule, the high school girls golf season is quickly dwindling.

Both Arcadia and G-E-T High School competed in a pair of meets last week on the road, the first in Colfax and the second in Cochrane-Fountain City.

The Raiders were scheduled to host a conference match on Monday before the Red Hawks take their turn, hosting an invitational on Tuesday. A busy week ends with G-E-T hosting a conference match on Thursday.

Colfax invitational

A loaded golf course at an invitational in Colfax on Tuesday gave both Trempealeau County teams plenty of competition at the Northwest Wisconsin Classic.

The day included an impressive medalist performance from Belle Kongshaug of Colfax-Elk Mound, who shot a 77 to lead all golfers at the par-71 Whitetail Golf Course.

But Arcadia senior Whitney Sonsalla claimed an impressive round of her own, shooting an 89 to tie Ellsworth’s Kayley Bayer for third place.

Play saw Altoona-Regis claim the top team spot with a 382, with the hosts in Colfax-Elk Mound taking second with a 400. Arcadia tied with Black River Falls for sixth place with a 431, while G-E-T shot a 477 to take 11th.

Ahnna Bautch tied for 13th with a 100 for Arcadia, which also got rounds of 106 from Ithzel Cossio and 136 from Kylie Mullikin.

The Red Hawks were led by a 104 from Alexis Murphy to tie for 20th. Caydence Kokott (129) and Chloe Applin (132) also played for G-E-T.

Osseo-Fairchild took third (411), followed by Saint Croix Central, Ellsworth (419) and Black River Falls (431). After Arcadia was Osceola (432), Bloomer (437), Stanley-Boyd (453), G-E-T and Grantsburg (491).

CC at C-FC

A Coulee Conference mini-meet at Walnut Grove Golf Course in Cochrane last Thursday saw a season-long trend continue.

The conference remains as tight as it has been in years, and Thursday was no different. After Black River Falls took the top spot with a 187, the other three teams were all within reach of each other.

Westby took second with a 200 while G-E-T came in just higher with a 203. Arcadia finished fourth with a 209.

Murphy led the way for county golfers on Thursday, finishing fourth with a 46. It was just two strokes short of medalist honors, which Maddi Fletcher of Westby took home. Sonsalla finished  fifth with a 47.

Maggie Bistodeau shot a 48 for G-E-T. Kokott hit a 54 for the Red Hawks, followed by Jada Schmitt’s 55 and Applin’s 58. Anna Motszko recorded a 71 for G-E-T.

Arcadia was helped by a 50 from Cossio, good for a tie for eighth place. Bautch shot a 53, and the Raiders also got a 59 from Mullikin.
