The Arcadia soccer team showed why it was the top seed in its Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association bracket with two wins last week.
The Raiders scored 10 goals in the first 20 minutes of a 14-0 win over Nekoosa last Thursday. On Friday, they continued their dominance with a 10-0 win over Coulee Christian/Providence Academy. No further statistics or information were provided before the Times went to press.
The wins put Arcadia at 13-3-2 on the season with a familiar opponent, La Crosse Aquinas coming to Arcadia this Thursday.
Aquinas is the third seed after beating (2) Columbus Catholic on Saturday. The Raiders beat the Blugolds 4-1 on Oct. 7. Aquinas has a 12-5-4 record on the season.
The winner of that match will play the winner of the Washburn/Bayfield and Northland Pines competition held the same day. The sectional final game will be played in Baldwin-Woodville on Saturday.
Arcadia played in the state tournament last year, losing to eventual state champion The Prairie School.
This is the sixth straight season the Raiders have qualified for the sectional round, they advanced to the sectional final three times.
