Blair-Taylor junior Kyle Jahr is the only area Division Three golfer who will compete this week.
Jahr shot an 84 at last Wednesday’s Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Cochrane-Fountain City regional, played at Trempealeau Mountain, to finish as the second of five individual qualifiers as he tied for 14th overall in the tournament.
The top four teams and five individuals not on those teams advanced to the sectional played at Delbrook Golf Club in Delevan on Tuesday. Durand won the regional as it had four of the top five golfers in the tournament and fired a 296. Onalaska Luther was second (319) followed by Cochrane-Fountain City (321) and Eleva-Strum (344).
Mondovi was fifth with a 351, 10 strokes better than Alma/Pepin while B-T finished with a 364, Osseo-Fairchild, 389; Whitehall, 424 and Independence/Gilmanton, 489.
Jahr shot a 43 on the front nine and a 41 on the back to lead his team. Jaxon Boe shot a 91, while Peyton Bernadotte came in at 94, Travis Pettis, 95, and Ryan Oldendorf, 98.
Whitehall sophomore Nolan Norgaard nearly qualified for the sectional but lost a playoff hole. He finished with an 86, shooting a 45 on the front nine and a 41 on the back. Jaxon Tollefson was second on Whitehall with a 102 followed by Andy Flores, 112; Corbin Larson, 124 and Westen Stenulson, 146.
Charlie Baize led I/G with a 105 while Braden Williams shot a 111; Landan Stamper, 118 and Garet Bouzek, 155.
Jahr was set to tee off early Tuesday morning as part of the third group of three off the tee. The first three individuals who are not members of the top two qualifying teams will advance to the WIAA State Championships at University Ridge in Madison. The state competition begins next Monday with 36 holes finishing on Tuesday.
