B-T defense swats Hornets
The Blair-Taylor girls basketball team kept Alma Center Lincoln in check during a 53-45 win on Dec. 20
The Hornets scored late to make the final score close, but B-T established control after numerous defensive stops in the second half.
The win put B-T at 4-3 on the season before a break for the holidays. The team will play its first nonconference competition this Saturday when Plum City/Elmwood comes to B-T. On Monday, the Wildcats travel to Augusta.
B-T 53 AC Lincoln 45
A three-pointer by Andi Beck gave the Wildcats a 26-23 lead and the team’s defense would allow it to hold.
Beck got a steal on B-T’s next possession and the team maintained a three-point lead after a series in which Elissa Smetana got a steal and Andrea Waldera blocked two shots.
A steal by Madalynn Frederixon helped the team extend its lead as it went on an 11-2 run, capped by a three-pointer by Samantha Aguilar that made the score 51-38.
The Hornets made the score closer late, but the Wildcats were in control.
B-T controlled the paint as Waldera scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Aguilar added 14 points for the Wildcats.
