B-T girls blow out two

The Blair-Taylor girls basketball team put two opponents away early as they picked up a pair of lopsided wins.
The Wildcats improved to 12-0 overall as they beat Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, 86-27, last week Tuesday and Brookwood, 74-32, on Saturday. They were scheduled to play Gilmanton on Thursday, but that school district has canceled the rest of its season.
B-T put its 5-0 Dairyland Conference record on the line at Augusta on Tuesday and at home against Alma Center Lincoln on Thursday. The Hornets at 11-1 on the season and also 5-0 in DC play, leading the Small Division. B-T plays another nonconference game on Saturday when it hosts Plum City/Elmwood before heading to Independence this coming Tuesday.

If the Wildcats didn’t score a single point after halftime, they still would’ve won by 21.
In what ended up being a record-setting game for senior Lindsay Steien (see story elsewhere in this week’s Times) it was a lopsided affair from the start. The Wildcats scored 33 of the first 36 points in the game and took a 48-14 lead into halftime as Steien scored 15 points.
The B-T senior broke the schools coring record with a three pointer early in the second half as she knocked down three from beyond the arc early in the half. B-T’s lead grew to 72-18 with nine minutes remaining.
Steien finished with a game-high 31 points in the game, while Abby Thompson added 12 and Kierstyn Kindschy finished with 10. Thompson had a double-double as she also had 10 steals.

Steien went off with 24 points in the first half as the Wildcats cruised for the win.
The B-T senior was able to get to the basket at will as her team opened up a 51-19 lead by halftime. Thompson scored 12 of the team’s 23 points in the second half as the lead was never in jeopardy.
Steien finished with a game-high 26 while Thompson added 20.
