B-T offense explodes in upset over Cashton

The Blair-Taylor boys basketball team broke out offensively as they put up 44 points in the second half of an 80-73 win over Cashton.

B-T coach Randy Storlie said the Eagles (4-2) received votes as one of the 10 best teams in Division Four in the most recent statewide polls, but his team overcame an early run before putting the game away late.

“The guys really came to play and it was a true team effort,” Storlie said.

The win evened B-T’s record at 4-4 before this Tuesday’s home game against Augusta. They’ll head to Melrose-Mindoro on Friday before hosting Bangor on Saturday.

B-T 80 Cashton 73

Cashton looked the part of one of the top Division Four teams as they took a 10-point lead early, but B-T fought back and then held off the Eagles late.

After falling behind, the Wildcats caught up by halftime as the teams went into the intermission knotted at 36.

B-T took the lead early in the second half and Storlie said his team built up a 10-point advantage with three minutes to play. Cashton made a late run to pull within five with less than a minute, but B-T held on for the win.

“What a great game and the boys played so well,” Storlie said. “It was so fun to watch them play and to win against a team like Cashton is a real credit to the guys.”

Sophomore guard Ethan Kniseley broke out with a career-high 26 points on eight-of-12 shooting. The Wildcats also got 19 points and 12 rebounds from Evan Nehring while Jaren Swanson added 15 points and Michael Waldera finished with 11.
