B-T pitcher earns all-state honors

A Blair-Taylor junior was honored with a statewide award after a standout season on the mound last spring.

Tavian Shramek was named third-team all-state by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association last week. Shramek went 11-0 for the Wildcats with an earned run average (ERA) of 0.12. His ERA was the lowest among all the pitchers who earned all-state honors – the next lowest was Noah Marschke of Stevens Point, who earned first-team honors with a 0.62 ERA.

Shramek led the Wildcats to a first-place tie in the Dairyland Conference as they were even with eventual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Four State Champion Eleva-Strum. B-T went 19-4 on the season before losing to Pittsville in the regional final round.

The B-T junior struck out 151 of the 222 batters he faced in 61 innings this season. He allowed just one run on 15 hits, 13 walks and eight hit batters.

At the plate, Shramek hit .446 with one home run, two triples and five doubles.
