B-T second, Whitehall third at Hornet Invite

For the second time in a week, the Blair-Taylor boys cross country team just barely missed out on a team title.

Just like Monday’s meet at Melrose-Mindoro (see story elsewhere in Sports), the Wildcats finished two points behind meet champion. This time, it was Cochrane-Fountain City scoring 38 points to B-T’s 40 while Whitehall was third with 60 and Mel-Min fourth with 78.

The Wildcats had three top-10 finishers, led by Delorean Peterson’s fourth-place while Jacob Olson was sixth and Anthony Oldendorf finished ninth. Ole Heuer placed 13th for the Wildcats with Armoni Samples taking 15th, Riley Gunderson, 24th and Ryan Flynn, 25th.

Kevin Carroll led the Whitehall boys, taking second overall. Ben Mohan joined him in the top 10, placing eighth while Nolan Thompson was 17th; Matthew Poulos, 20th and Payton Thompson, 23rd.

Neither of the area schools had enough runners for a complete girls team.

Madison Flynn led B-T, taking eighth overall while Ella Halverson was 12th and Emmalee Johnson was 17th. Brenna Clatt was the only WHS runner, finishing 31st.
