B-T track tallies eight wins in two meets

Blair-Taylor track and field competed in two events last week, with their girls and boys taking second and third respectively in both meets.

The week began last Tuesday at a meet the Wildcats hosted, as they took four total wins over competitors from Cochrane-Fountain City and Melrose-Mindoro. Then on Thursday, B-T took another four total wins in C-FC against the Pirates and Eleva-Strum.

The Wildcats are scheduled to return to their home track Thursday for another home meet, their lone scheduled meet of the week.

DC at B-T

The Wildcats were led by their second-place girls team, which tallied one team win on Faith Olson’s high jump (4-6) performance last Tuesday.

The third-place B-T boys tallied three event wins, including Anthony Oldendorf in the 1600 (5:41.09), Delorean Peterson in the 800 (2:34.31) and Matt Brandenburg (19-11) in the long jump.

The Mel-Min boys scored 55 points to C-FC’s 50 and B-T’s 43. C-FC topped the girls competitors with 42 points to B-T’s 48 and Mel-Min’s 45.

DC at C-FC

The second-place B-T girls were led by wins from Madison Goodbear in the long jump (12-2), as well as Olson again on the high jump (4-10).

For the third-place boys, Brandenburg took their two wins on the day in the 400 (57.46) and long jump (18-1) events.

The E-S boys scored 59 points while C-FC came in with 41 and B-T had 31. C-FC’s girls scored 74 points to B-T’s 36 and 31 for E-S.
