Blair swimmer in state meet

Ryan Oldendorf, Blair, traveled to Brown Deer for the 2020 12-and-Under Wisconsin Short Course Yards state championship swim meet to compete against the fastest USA swimmers in the state last weekend.

Oldendorf, age 12, qualified for the state swim meet in four individual events: the 50 yard breaststroke, 100 yard breaststroke, 200 yard breaststroke, and the 50 yard butterfly.  While at the state meet he had fast enough times to qualify to take part in the following three relay teams: 200 yard freestyle relay, 200 yard medley relay, and the 400 yard medley relay. Oldendorf was able to pull off personal best times in all four of his individual events and the 200 yard medley relay.  He placed 23rd in the 200 breaststroke, 11th in the 200 freestyle relay, 24th in the 50 breaststroke, 18th in the 400 medley relay, 13th in the 200 medley relay, 27th in the 100 breaststroke, and 45th in the 50 butterfly.

Oldendorf trains with the Black River Youth Swim club nine months of the year and has competed all over Wisconsin and a few out of state competitions.

His last meet of the season will be on March 27-29 at the Midwest Regionals held in Minneapolis, Minn.  Swimmers are not able to attend this meet without achieving qualifying times.  The meet hosts swimmers from eight midwestern states with a cap of 1,500 swimmers to compete.
