Blair-Taylor falls to Dairyland Conference power Augusta

Augusta showed its power as the top team in the Dairyland Conference with a 28-0 home win last Friday over Blair-Taylor.

With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference as they prep to host another strong opponent in Pepin/Alma (5-1, 4-1 Dairyland) on Friday.

Augusta (7-0, 5-0 Dairyland) held Blair-Taylor’s passing game at bay, allowing Wildcat quarterback Colton Lechjer to complete just two of his 16 passes for 36 yards.

That defense combined with a pair of 100-yard rushers in Augusta quarterback Brennan King and running back Marcus Livingston told the tale of the tape on Friday.

Blair-Taylor coach Andy Nehring said he thought his team played a tough game against a top team.

“I was proud of the effort by our kids tonight. We lost to a good football team tonight,” Nehring said.

King finished with 119 yards on 12 carries and opened the scoring with a 71-yard touchdown less than a minute into the game.

Livingston added another long touchdown in the third on a 66-yard run and finished with 142 yards on seven carries. Augusta scored once in each quarter.

Blair-Taylor had a decent day on the ground as well, as Jackson Shramek rushed for 63 yards on 15 carries and the team finished with 118 yards rushing.

Bryan Rogstad led the Wildcats on defense with 10 total tackles.

“We had some kids that took on new roles tonight, and I thought they performed well,” Nehring said. “We’ll just keep working on getting better.”
