Coulee power Aquinas rolls over Red Hawks

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School football team ended its season with a tough matchup against the top team in the Coulee Conference last Friday.

The final score reflected unbeaten La Crosse Aquinas’ power, as the host Blugolds earned a 55-8 win to end the Red Hawks’ season. G-E-T finishes with a 1-8 record (1-6 Coulee Conference).

Aquinas (9-0, 7-0) raced to a 24-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring on a pair of David Malin runs and adding an interception return off Red Hawk quarterback Ben Hilton, who finished the game 15-of-27 for 157 yards and a pair of picks.

The Blugold defense added another touchdown in the third quarter on a 45-yard fumble return to close the scoring after a trio of passing touchdowns from Aquinas quarterback Jackson Flottmeyer.

G-E-T got on the scoreboard in the second quarter, as junior Nate Schindler plunged into the end zone from one yard out to make it 32-8. Schindler finished with 22 yards on eight carries and added three catches for 32 yards.

Senior Kaeden Pronschinske (32 yards) and sophomore Cody Schmitz (88) led the Red Hawks in catches with five.
