Eight county athletes win Coulee Conference track titles

Eight Trempealeau County athletes proved to be the best the Coulee Conference has to offer in their respective track and field events last week.

Westby took the team title on the girls’ side, and the West Salem boys won team bragging rights. The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls took third, and Arcadia finished fifth.

For the boys’ events, G-E-T finished fourth and Arcadia was next in fifth place.

Multiple Red Hawks win individual titles

Five different G-E-T athletes left Thursday as conference champions.

The Red Hawks had a successful day in the field events—Carter Repaal earned an individual conference championship in the shot put with his toss of 47 feet, 11.5 inches, and Brady Seiling also helped the Red Hawk boys with a winning long jump of 21’ 1.5”.

Alayna Stendahl won the long jump competition for the G-E-T girls, which also saw a win from Kaylee Hauge in the 400.

Sam Ruiter won the 1600 for the G-E-T boys to round out the G-E-T titles.

Ruiter took second in the 800 as well, joining Omar Jimenez (300 hurdles) as Red Hawk boys with second place placements.

Hauge joined teammate Adrianna Rotering and the G-E-T 400-meter relay team of Madelyn Seymour, Jordan Stanislowski, Emma Schindler and Libby Truax as the other second-place finishers on the girls’ side.

Arcadia sees three champions

Junior Joel Fernando won a Coulee title in the 400-meter run for the Arcadia boys, which also got a win from Trey Lyga in discus.

The Arcadia girls also crowned a conference champion after Casidi Pehler’s leap of 12 feet, three inches in pole vault, enough for a personal record and the top jump on Thursday.

The Raiders had a trio of athletes come close to a conference win in the boys’ competition, as Ted Teske (long jump), Landan Bremer (400) and Nestor Badillo (1600) finished second in their respective events.

Pehler added a pair of second-place finishes to her pole vault win, taking second in high jump and discus. Teammates Jaylie Dahl (400) and Tegan Michalak (3200) also earned all-conference honors by taking second place.
