Five Trapp TDs lead Wildcats over Wolves

After throwing a game-winning touchdown pass in his first start, Blair-Taylor senior quarterback Kole Trapp exploded for five touchdowns and more than 450 yards in his second as the Wildcats defeated Elmwood/Plum City, 35-14.

Through two games, Trapp leads the state in passing yards with 766 and has the third-most touchdowns with nine. He started at other positions for the Wildcats before becoming the quarterback this year after the graduation of Tavian Shramek.

Trapp threw two touchdowns in the first quarter and another in the second as B-T took a 19-0 lead into halftime.

E/PC made the game interesting with two touchdowns in the third quarter, but Trapp and the Wildcats answered both and added two-point conversions to win by 21.

Trapp completed 20 of 35 passes for 456 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.

Three B-T pass catchers topped 100 yards in the game. CJ Dummer had a team-high 179 yards on six catches, two for touchdowns. Payton Kelly caught eight passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns and Connor Kruse caught five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. Collin Johnson also caught one pass for 37 yards.

Through two weeks, Kelly leads the state with 294 receiving yards.

No other B-T statistics were reported.

The Wildcats begin Dairyland Conference play in Augusta this week. The Beavers are 0-2 on the season, having been outscored 92-0 by Turtle Lake and Cadott.

The following two weeks could decide the DC title as B-T hosts both Pepin/Alma and Cochrane-Fountain City. The three teams all tied for the DC title with 6-1 records last year and all three are 2-0 in nonconference play to start this season.
