G-E-T’s Schmitz named to Division 3 all-state team

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau senior Cody Schmitz added yet another honor to his list recently as he was named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State team in Division Three.

This is the second time Schmitz has been named to the all-state team as he also cracked the list in 2022 as a sophomore. Last season, Schmitz was named honorable mention. He has been among the state’s leading scorers each of the last three seasons and he finished his high school career with the fourth-most points scored in state history, despite having a truncated freshman season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This past season, Schmitz averaged 30.1 points and 11 rebounds per game as he was named the Coulee Conference’s Player of the Year. He was joined on the all-state team by Pierce Arenz, Kiel; Jamarion Batemon and Devin Brown, Milwaukee Academy of Science; AJ Bender, Lake Mills; Drew Daoust, Southern Door; Dupree Fletcher Jr., Carmen Northwest; Sekou Konneh and Amari McCottry, Saint Thomas More; Lucas Ludlum, Platteville and Aaron Womack III, Dominican.

Schmitz is set to announce where he plans on playing college basketball this week.
