G-E-T bounced by D-A in playoff opener

A tough fall for the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau volleyball team wrapped up with a straight-set defeat in the opening round of this year’s playoffs.

Fifth seeded Durand-Arkansaw swept the visiting 12th-seeded Red Hawks 25-18, 25-14, 25-22 in their WIAA Division Three regional quarterfinal clash on Tuesday, October 22.

Stat leaders for the Panthers included senior Addison Auth with six kills, five aces and five total blocks, senior Makenzie Almstead with nine digs and senior Sawyer Sabelko with 12 assists. Durand-Arkansaw got past No. 4 seed Colby in five sets in the regional semifinals before getting swept by No. 1 seed Stratford in the regional finals.

G-E-T individual stats were not made available at the time of publication.

The Red Hawks finished off the 2024 season with three wins overall and a 0-12 mark in Coulee play.
