G-E-T falls to BRF in regional opener

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls volleyball season came to an end last Tuesday in the opening round of Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association regional play.

The Red Hawks fell in four sets to Black River Falls after dropping the opening two sets of the regional match.

G-E-T finishes their season 3-7, including postseason play. Tuesday’s match was also the final for seniors Jada Helmers and Jade Foote, and the Red Hawks will return a robust senior class next season that includes: Lindsey Lettner, Kayli Bratberg, Kylie Schmitz, Ryann Duffenbach, Aleah Hunter and Genna O’Neill.

A slow start for the Red Hawks dug a hole they could not climb out of Tuesday night in Black River Falls.

G-E-T battled back to take the third set before dropping the fourth to round out the 3-1 loss.

The Red Hawks were led by Lindsey Lettner’s 30 digs, Elysse Schoonover’s eight kills and Kayla Schultz’s 14 assists and three aces.
