G-E-T falls to Viroqua, BRF in latest losses
A loss to Viroqua represented the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls basketball team’s highest scoring output and closest margin of the season, but it did not land them that elusive first win.
The Red Hawks (0-6, 0-3 Coulee) fell to the Blackhawks at home and then were turned aside by Black River Falls on the road. G-E-T makes a detour into non-conference play against Mondovi on Tuesday then hosts Arcadia in Coulee action on Thursday.
Viroqua 59 G-E-T 48
Despite a solid second half, a 38-16 halftime deficit was too much for the Red Hawks to overcome in their loss to Viroqua (3-3, 2-2 Coulee) last Tuesday in Galesville.
Leading scorers for Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau included junior Amara Brantner with 14 points, sophomores Sami Filla and Joshlyn Lunsford with nine each and junior Lexi James with seven.
Viroqua freshman Allyah Schwem scored a game-high 26 points and junior Kate Quackenbush added 13 in the win.
BR Falls 63, G-E-T 33
The Tigers (3-4, 2-2 Coulee) bulldozed their way to a 30-point win over the Red Hawks in their conference content on Thursday in Black River Falls.
G-E-T sophomore Ava Lightfoot led her team with 12 points. Black River Falls was guided by seniors Bella Falcon and Kenley Brown with 23 and 11 points, respectively.
