G-E-T girls first, boys third in BRF

Coulee Conference track began last week with a Friday meet in Black River Falls, with Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau’s girls highlighting the performances of local athletes.

The Red Hawk girls won on the strength of nine individual event wins for the day, while the boys earned four event wins and finished third. Arcadia’s girls finished fifth overall, while their boys finished sixth.

G-E-T is scheduled for a Thursday quad in Tomah, while Arcadia was scheduled for a Tuesday quad in Mondovi and a Friday invite at Onalaska Luther.

Black River Falls Invite

Two relay wins and high placements from Rachel Amoth, Caden Miralles, Adrianna Rotering and Mikayla Wright led the Red Hawk girls to victory last Friday. Across 18 events, G-E-T’s girls took first in nine and second in four others.

Gracelyn Shanley, Libby Truax, Alayna Stendahl and Kayli Bratberg made up the winning 800 relay team, while Tauna Janssen, Hannah Siegler, Avali Bratberg and AJ Parker took the win in the 3200 relay. Amoth took wins in the triple jump and high jump, while finishing second in the 200. Miralles won the 100 and 200, while finishing second to Amoth in the triple jump. Wright had the furthest shot put and finished second in the discus throw. Rotering won her debut 1600 race and finished second in the 800 by less than half a second.

Other top-three finishers for the G-E-T girls included Hauge with a third in the 400, Siegler finishing third in the 3200 and Kylie Schmitz taking third in discus.

Luke Vance and Will Thompson were the top performers for the G-E-T boys, as Vance took wins in the 100 and 200 while Thompson won the high and triple jumps. With Thompson’s clearing of six feet in the high jump.

The Red Hawk 3200 relay team of Lance Jumbeck, Sam Ruiter, Charlie Caya and Ethan Burmeister took second, and G-E-T boys also took third in the 400 (Charlie Mattison), 800 (Carter Gold), 3200 (Ruiter), long jump (Collin Corey) and triple jump (Mattison).

Arcadia had a couple strong individual finishes to highlight their day, including Jose Monroy taking first in the 1600 and second in the 800.

Benny Jimenez also took second in the 200 while also serving as the first leg of the 1600 relay team that took third. Rounding out that team were Drew Teske, Jose Verde and Cole Lockington. Teske also took second in the 400 as well.

The Raider girls were led by seconds from Tegan Michalak in the 1600 and Jessica Kupka in the long jump. Autumn Passehl and Avrie Marsolek took third placements in the 200 and 800 respectively, while the 1600 relay team of Michalak, Jacy Boberg, Passehl and Marsolek also took third.
