GMC, Lambert fourth at La Crosse gymnastics invite

A big day from junior Paris Lambert led the G-E-T/Mel-Min/Cochrane-Fountain City gymnastics co-op to a fourth place finish last Saturday at an invitational meet in La Crosse.

The team continued competition in Viroqua on Monday and is scheduled to visit West Salem on Thursday.

Lambert finished fourth in the all-around with a 34.55 on Saturday, as Sparta’s Ella Hemker (35.975) and Lily Wiegand (35.05) took first and second, respectively.

River Falls won the team portion of Saturday’s invitational, scoring 133.975 points. GMC took fourth (126.975), also behind Sparta (131.4) in second and Onalaska (127.175) in third. 

GMC bested Caledonia (124.850), Logan/Central (122.650) and Tomah (108.625). 

Lambert finished third on balance beam with an 8.65 and fourth on the vault with an 8.45. She took second in bars (8.525), bested only by Hemker at 9.0. 

Trista Thill tied for fifth in beam with an 8.550 and finished 13th in floor, 14th in bars and ninth in the all-around with a 32.550.

GMC’s Ellayna Christopherson finished tenth in the vault with a 7.995.
