Hawks second, third at conference golf meets
The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School girls golf team finished inside the top three at both of its events last week.
The Red Hawks took second at a Coulee Conference meet in Arcadia last Monday, also placing third at their home meet in Ettrick on Thursday.
G-E-T competed in a match at Black River Falls on Monday of this week and will play at Drugan’s Castle Mound in Holmen on Thursday.
The postseason begins this coming Monday as G-E-T will tee off at Viroqua Hills Golf Course for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Westby Regional. The top three teams and three individuals who are not on those teams will advance to the sectional at Trempealeau Mountain next week.
CC at Arcadia
The Red Hawks finished three strokes behind Westby in the match.
The top three teams were all close as Westby won the competition with a score of 208, while G-E-T shot a 211 and Black River Falls came in with a 219. Cochrane-Fountain City was fourth, shooting a 257.
Alexis Murphy was third overall, shooting a 49 for the Red Hawks. Anna Motszko shot a 52 while Jazlynn Olson came in with a 53, Jada Schmitt, 57; Claire Wagner, 63 and Chloe Applin, 64.
G-E-T hosted the meet because Arcadia does not have a team this year.
CC at Ettrick
The Red Hawks took third out of three teams playing in Ettrick on Thursday.
G-E-T’s score of 218 was 16 strokes behind champion Westby, while BRF shot a 213.
Murphy and Schmitt both tied for fifth overall by shooting 51 while both Olson and Motszko shot 54. Applin came in with a 62 and Wagner shot a 63.
