Holmen overpowers Arcadia in legion ball
Holmen broke open a summer baseball game in Arcadia last Wednesday with seven scores in the fifth inning.
The game, which ended as a 10-4 victory for Holmen, was Post 17’s lone contest last week.
Arcadia (6-5 this summer) visited Fall Creek on Tuesday and Black River Falls on Wednesday to close the legion regular season before a regional in Onalaska was set for this Friday.

Max Blaschko opened the scoring for Arcadia by stealing home and cutting Holmen’s lead to 2-1 in the second inning before the visitors racked up six hits and seven runs in the top half of the fifth inning on Wednesday.
Login Scow singled home Max Sobotta in the bottom of the seventh inning, and a Blaschko double in the next at-bat scored Brandon Sylla and Maverick Drazkowski to close the scoring.
Scow and Connor Weltzien each hit 2-for-4 for Arcadia, which finished with eight hits as a team. Holmen collected 14 hits on offense in a game that saw Eli Edwardson hit 4-for-5 and Abe Henderson go 4-for-4.
Sylla served as Arcadia’s starting pitcher, throwing seven strikeouts and two walks while allowing five hits and one earned run in four innings of work.
Sobotta, Scow and Austin Fernholz each threw one inning.
