Indee net team splits with Beavers

A four-set win was followed by a four-set loss by the Independence volleyball team with both matches coming against Augusta.

The win came in the home match played last week Tuesday as the Indees broke a 1-1 score with two straight wins to take the match. The score was 1-1 again in Independence on Thursday, but Augusta won the final two to earn a split for the week.

The Indees enter the final week of the season with a 6-5 record and one of the best teams in the Dairyland Conference on the schedule as the Indees played at Whitehall on Tuesday and will host the Norse on Thursday for their last scheduled match of the season.

The Indees scored convincing wins in the first and last sets as they topped the Beavers.

Independence came out strong for a 25-18 win in the first set before Augusta evened the match. A close win in the third tipped the match in Independence’s favor before they finished it with a nine-point win.

A strong night at the service line helped the Indees as they had 13 aces, led by Hailey Witte’s four. Ziy Conner added three aces, both Aubrie Pronschinske and Emerson Pronschinske had two, Avery Pape and Adison Pronschinsk eboth had one.

Conner led the Indees at the net with 16 kills and added two digs. Aubrie Pronschinske added eight kills and 14 digs, Amiah Ives had five kills, two blocks and a dig, Pape had four kills, two blocks and 13 digs while Alana Back had three kills and three blocks and Adison Pronschinske had three kills and three digs to go with her 31 set assists.

Emerson Pronschinske had 18 digs, Witte added five.

The Indees scored 25 points in each of the first two sets, but only managed a split.

A 27-25 loss in the first set put the Indees behind. They evened the match in the second set, but dropped two more close sets to fall 3-1.

Conner had a big night at the net with 29 kills and nine blocks to go with four digs and a service ace. Aubrie Pronschinske added 10 kills, 17 digs and four aces. Ives had four kills, 11 digs and two aces, Back had three kills, two assists and one block and Emerson Pronschinske had one kills, one assist and 21 digs.

The setting duties were split as Adison Pronschinske had 20 assists while Witte finished with 17 and Pape added another. Pape also had 19 digs while Witte had seven and Adison Pronschinske had three. Witte also had an ace.
