Indee netters swept in C-FC

They had two close sets, but the Independence volleyball team wasn’t able to come up with a win as they were swept in Cochrane-Fountain City on Thursday. 

After losing the first set by 13, the Indees were close in the next two sets, but couldn’t get the win.

The loss dropped Independence to 2-7 on the season and 0-1 in Dairyland Conference play. They hosted Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Tuesday of this week and will head to Blair-Taylor on Monday. Next Tuesday, the Indees host Gilmanton and will head to Augusta on Thursday.

The Indees responded after a lopsided first set, but they just couldn’t get over the top.

After a 13-point loss in the first set, the Indees were competitive, but lost the second by three points and the third by four.

Aubrie Pronschinske led the team in kills with five and digs with 16, while tying for the team lead with two service aces. Amiah Ives added four kills, five blocks, 14 digs and two aces while Avery Pape had two kills, 10 digs and one set assist, block and ace. Rhianna Theisen had one kill, three digs and two aces. Maggie Woychik had two kills and two blocks. 

Adison Pronschinske set up Independence’s hitters with 14 assists, she also had nine digs and one ace. Grace Roskos had seven digs, while Mackenzie Taylor had two digs.
