The Independence/Gilmanton wrestling team won six of the seven matches that were settled on the mat as they opened the season with a 48-12 win over Mondovi.
The Indees got pins from Gavin Bragger (195), Gracie Rombalski (106), Gabe Pietrek (120), Gael Leon (132), Jackson Konter (138) and Ethan Severson (160). Gabe Rombalski and Jacobo Medina won matches by forfeit.
The only losses for I/G came on a forfeit at 182 pounds and a pin by Mondovi’s Cody Wagner (152) over Connor Smieja. Both teams had to forfeit the 220, 126, 145 and 170 pound classes.
The Indees were scheduled to wrestle Spencer at home this week Tuesday with a match at Osseo-Fairchild this coming Tuesday.
