Indees edge Houston in nonconference play

A strong performance from senior Ben Pyka helped the Independence boys basketball team pick up a road nonconference win last week Tuesday.

Pyka put in an all-around performance with 25 points on eight-of-13 shooting while adding seven rebounds, five assists and five steals in his team’s 58-55 win.

The team also got 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals from Tyler Kingsbury as they picked up their third win of the season.

Independence shot 46.5 percent from the field as they moved the ball around, assisting on 15 of their 20 made field goal attempts. 

The Indees (3-5) hosted Cashton for a game on Monday before heading to Gilmanton on Tuesday. They’ll return home to play Alma Center Lincoln this Friday before going to Neillsville next Monday and hosting Whitehall next Thursday.
