Indees finish regular season with split
The Independence/Gilmanton baseball team finished Dairyland Conference play with a win before falling in a nonconference game last week.
The Indees scored four early runs and held on for a 5-3 win over Eleva-Strum last week Tuesday. On Thursday, they fell to Greenwood 8-7 — no further information was reported to the Times.
I/G closed the regular season with a 16-4 record and 14-3 in Dairyland Conference play finishing second behind Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, which had a 16-2 DC mark.
Tournament play opened for the (1) Indees on Tuesday of this week when they hosted (4) Blair-Taylor. The winner of that game will play the winner between (3) Pepin/Alma and (2) Cochrane-Fountain City. Sectional competition is scheduled for this coming Tuesday in Shell Lake.

Two runs with two outs put the Indees ahead early.
Chris Killian doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Wyatt Kuerschner. Kuerschner moved into scoring position on an error and scored on a single by Jackson Konter.
The Indees added two more runs with two outs in the second as Gael Leon singled with two outs and scored on a triple by Hunter Guenther. Guenther then scored on an error.
The Indees added another run when Tyler Brantner walked with one out and scored on a single by Guenther.
Guenther, Killian and Konter all had two hits for the Indees.
Killian was the winning pitcher.
