Indees go 3-1 at Mondovi tournament

The Independence/Gilmanton wrestling team got off to a strong start, winning three of four matches at the Beef River Brawl, a dual tournament in Mondovi.

The Indees began the tournament with a 51-25 win over Mondovi/Eleva-Strum before edging Unity 48-42. Their loss came at the hands of Chetek-Prairie Farm, 45-36, but they defeated Osseo-Fairchild/Augusta/Fall Creek 51-22. 

Jacobo Medina went 4-0 in the tournament for the Indees, recording three pins on the day. Owen Gierok was also undefeated with two pins and two forfeits received.

Gracie Rombalski, Alex Johnson, Cora Sonsalla, Sam Marsolek, Gabe Pietrek, Mason Gierok and Gavin Bragger all went 3-1. Rombalski, Johnson, Owen Gierok, Pietrek, Mason Gierok and Bragger all had two pins. Max Marsolek was 2-2 for the Indees with two pins. 

The Indees were in action again on Tuesday of this week when they went to Onalaska for a dual. They’ll wrestle at home against Durand on Thursday before heading to La Crosse Logan for a tournament on Saturday.
